SPEECH

Speech Therapist assesses and treats speech disorders and communication problems. It helps people develop skills like comprehension, clarity, voice, fluency and sound production. Speech therapy can treat Childhood Speech Disorders Or Adult Speech Impairments caused by stroke, brain injury or other conditions.

Speech therapy is beneficial for children and adults with communication disorders ( Delayed Speech, Autism, Hearing Impairment, Cerebral Palsy ) Other conditions includes Aphasia, Apraxia, Articulation disorders, Cognitive-communication disorders, Dysarthria, Expressive disorders, Fluency disorders, Receptive disorders, Resonance disorders.

Autism spectrum disorder is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication.

A speech and language delay is when a child isn’t developing speech and language at an expected rate.

Speech Therapy should begin as soon as possible. Children who start therapy early (before they're 5 years old)tend to have better results than those who begin. Because this is the period(critical age) where the child’s brain develops faster

A speech therapy session is usually 30-45 minutes long. Therapy can last a few months to a few years, depending on the individual’s needs. The child can’t sit and attend to the session for more than 45 mins and that’s the reason each period is set 45 mins even in schools and colleges.

This is very important because parents are an integral part of an effective speech therapy program, and in fact they are key to their child’s success in changing and improving.

Increased screen time in young children is associated to negative health outcomes such as decreased cognitive ability, impaired language development, mood, and autistic-like behaviour including hyperactivity, short attention span, and irritability

Hyperactivity means having increased movement, impulsive actions, a shorter attention span, and being easily distracted.

Stuttering is a speech disorder characterized by repetition of sounds, syllables, or words; prolongation of sounds; and interruptions in speech known as blocks(Ex: Bababanana)

Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory(Hyperactivity), or cognitive problems. OT can help them regain independence in all areas of their lives.

OT can help kids and teens who have birth defects, sensory processing disorders, learning problems, autism, mental health or behavioural problems, developmental delays.
